China Restoration & Glassware

Highest Quality Care and Results

Ceramic is one of the oldest materials used in the creation of objects. At XC Art Restoration, we specialize in restoring objects made of ceramics using up to date materials and equipment and offer excellent colour match. The two stages of restoration (structural and cosmetic) are practiced in the gallery. Each repair will be approached individually; from removing a discoloured or poor previous repair, to dismantling, reattaching and aligning shards and filling of missing areas. We offer conservation which includes stabilizing objects to prevent further deterioration to replacing missing parts and retouching by airbrushing or hand painting to create an invisible repair.

Fine china (dishware, figurines, vases etc) are common objects restored here at XC Art Restoration. We specialize in restoring objects made of porcelain using up to date materials and equipment and offer excellent colour match. The two stages of restoration (structural and cosmetic) are practiced in the gallery. Each repair will be approached individually; from removing a discoloured or poor previous repair, to dismantling, reattaching and aligning shards and filling of missing areas. We offer conservation which includes stabilizing objects to prevent further deterioration, to replacing missing parts and retouching by airbrushing or hand painting to create an invisible repair.

Glass may be clear and transparent or it may be coloured by the addition of metallic oxides. When restoring any type of glass or crystal there are limitations. In most cases, the restoration cannot be disguised, and all cracks and fills will be obvious. If the glass or crystal has a chip, we are able to water-buff the chip down and remove it all together. This process will result in a loss of volume or height, however, the piece will not show any sign of restoration.

FINE CHINA & PORCELAIN

We offer structural restoration for any fine china, ceramic or porcelain object, which is the most ethical way to restore a piece and it is practiced by institutions such as museums and art galleries. It is also the safest way to restore a piece for daily use.
We also offer cosmetic restoration services when restoring fine china and porcelain objects, however, this would only be applicable to items used solely for display purposes. All our materials are reversible.

what our clients say

“XC Art called me to advise that I had overpaid for a restoration. They credited my account. How easy it would have been for them to ignore the overpayment. These folks showed integrity and decency. I am extremely impressed with their care.“
