These paintings are images of a common sight I see; the reflection of Muskoka chairs that sit on my neighbour’s dock at the cottage. In these paintings, a red canoe is also being reflected.
I go out in my kayak to obtain images from the lake view. I want to only include the reflection, not the object being reflected. This adds a sense of mystery for the viewer.
I also like the juxtaposition between the abstract quality of the image and the photorealism once the source of the reflection is understood. I resin these paintings to enhance the effect of water.
The title of this series refers to my continued fascination with the endless visual patterns, design and colour that are presented in moving water that are constantly changing.
